Midsummer Studio is a design practice rooted in inquiry: light on pretense, deeply considered, and gently resistant to the obvious. We specialize in brand and website design, web development, and creative direction.
The studio is led by Erin Lloyd-Hammond, based in Asheville, North Carolina. In addition to being a designer, she holds a PhD in architectural history and considers herself a future-oriented historian. She loves juxtaposition (obviously!), her approach is largely shaped by history and craft, and she's interested in what happens when you bring ideas from tactile worlds into digital ones. She enjoys visual storytelling and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible within different mediums.
Her wider practice includes Object & Archive, a curatorial project recovering underexposed historical art, and The Color Index, a digital catalog of historically-sourced colors.
